No other love can surpass the love that God gave to us His children, more so that we are all sinners. His death on the cross is itself a symbol of selfless sacrifice. We are given eternal salvation, and in return we are all called to emulate His example of humility, selflessness, and love. He tells us through His example that  we must opt to do things which will please Him and spread more the love He gave us.
